Biography

Erin made her professional directing debut in 2018 at Hayes Theatre Co with the acclaimed production of She Loves Me. Her directing credits include Mamma Mia! (2019), Chess (2021), Superstars (2024) and Superstars Vol. 2 (2026) for The Very Popular Theatre Company, alongside major works at the Elder Conservatorium of Music including Cabaret, Les Misérables, On The Town, Shrek, Little Women and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. She also directed and choreographed the South Australian premiere of Alice by Heart (2024) and A Grand Night For Singing (2022).

Erin has an extensive history with Opera Australia as a performer, Dance Captain, Staging Supervisor and Resident Director, most recently on the national tour of The Phantom of the Opera (2022-23) and the audition tour of Hadestown (2024). In 2026 she returns to the company as Associate Choreographer for the 70th anniversary production of My Fair Lady.

Her assistant and associate directing credits include Stalking the Bogeyman (Old Fitz Theatre), Vernon God Little and Moon for The Australian Voices, and she recently served as Casting Director for Stoddart Entertainment Group’s production of Frozen. Erin’s practice is grounded in collaboration and movement-led storytelling, and continues to evolve through her ongoing advanced training in Intimacy Coordination for stage and screen.

Erin is Program Director and Head of Music Theatre at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and School of Performing Arts, Adelaide University, where she leads the Bachelor of Music Theatre program as a Senior Lecturer. Alongside her academic role she is Executive Producer of the program’s public seasons, which operate as industry-standard, work-integrated learning projects, bridging conservatoire training and professional practice.

She holds a Graduate Diploma of Education (Music) and is a qualified secondary music teacher. A year spent touring with the Australian Theatre of the Deaf inspired her to learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language).

As a stage performer Erin has appeared in major Australian and international productions including CATS (touring Asia, Australia, Korea and New Zealand in the roles of Olivia, Jennyanydots, Electra and Etcetera), Fiddler on the Roof, Love Never Dies, Blood Brothers, Me and My Girl, South Pacific, The King and I and My Fair Lady.

In 2023 she played the leading role in Welcome to Your New Life, a new Australian work by Anna Goldsworthy, for State Theatre Company South Australia.

Erin’s screen work includes the feature film The Little Death, written and directed by Josh Lawson, for which she received Best Supporting Actress nominations from both the AACTA Awards and the Film Critics Circle of Australia. The film premiered at the Sydney Film Festival and screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and SXSW. Other screen credits include the Closer Productions short My Best Friend Is Stuck on the Ceiling, a guest role in A Place To Call Home, television commercials and documentary programs.

Born and raised in Newcastle, NSW, Erin is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Bachelor of Arts, Music Theatre). Before WAAPA she achieved her Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) in Classical Voice and graduated from the Talent Development Project. In 2007, after being awarded the TDP/ASCAP Bound for Broadway scholarship, she performed her cabaret in New York before bringing her solo show, Have You Met Miss James?, to Sydney. She is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in Law.
